Winter Photography on Cape Cod | Jennifer LaRoche Photography

One of my most favorite things to do in the winter is to drive to Cape Cod and photograph the scenic areas and beaches. My husband and I make the hour + long trek several times over the winter months to visit with family and to sniff the ocean air!  We look like two stay puft marshmallow people (Ghostbusters reference) walking down the beach in our heavy winter garb, but we love it! An empty Mayflower beach is a sight you'll only see in the winter!

I captured this snowy owl on a VERY cold and windy day.  We had to warm up in the car several times just so we could stay a little longer. I was hoping to capture him in flight but he just sat and sat and sat and I got colder and colder and colder. I was so far away from the owl that he looked like a little lump through my 300mm lens. Since I was shooting with my full frame camera I knew I could crop the image down, but I wasn't sure how far.  I'm really happy the results!

Can't wait for our next Cape Cod photo adventure!
